My
name
is
Kelly
Li,
and
I
come
from
a
family
of
strong,
determined
women.
My
mother,
grandmother,
and
great-grandmother
were
all
trailblazers
in
their
own
way,
and
they
have
inspired
me
to
be
the
same. My
great-grandmother,
Mary
Li,
was
born
in
rural
China
in
the
early
1900s.
Despite
the
constraints
placed
on
women
at
the
time,
she
was
determined
to
receive
an
education.
She
walked
several
miles
each
day
to
attend
school,
and
eventually
became
a
teacher
herself.
When
she
immigrated
to
the
United
States,
she
continued
to
teach
and
inspire
generations
of
students. My
grandmother,
Susan
Li,
was
the
first
woman
in
our
family
to
attend
college.
She
studied
engineering
and
became
a
successful
business
owner,
blazing
a
trail
for
women
in
male-dominated
industries.
She
also
instilled
in
me
a
deep
love
and
appreciation
for
our
Chinese
heritage,
teaching
me
to
speak
Mandarin
and
introducing
me
to
traditional
Chinese
cuisine. My
mother,
Jenny
Li,
continued
this
legacy
of
perseverance
and
determination.
She
worked
hard
to
establish
herself
as
a
respected
physician,
all
while
raising
three
children.
She
taught
me
the
value
of
hard
work
and
the
importance
of
pursuing
your
dreams,
no
matter
how
difficult
the
path
may
be. I
am
proud
to
carry
on
the
legacy
of
these
incredible
women,
and
I
hope
to
inspire
future
generations
of
girls
to
be
strong,
determined,
and
courageous.
I
know
that
I
would
not
be
where
I
am
today
without
the

and
